Purposefully Healthy

The last 12 months have been challenging for all of us in different ways. In order to regulate my own health I found it was necessary to split the aspects my of health into five categories:

  • Physical Health
  • Physiological Health
  • Mental Health
  • Emotional Health
  • Spiritual Health

Throughout the week I am able to monitor how much time and energy I devote to each of these aspects and whether I need to invest more in one or other activity. Each aspect of health involves specific activities, and this gives the activity a purpose. For example, I can decide that I need to be more physically active and spend 30 minutes running or walking. If I decide to walk, I can combine my physical health with my emotional health by walking with a friend.

When I am preparing food the purpose is specifically, how will my body benefit from this? Breathing exercises will also benefit my physiological health alongside my mental and emotional health. And it is also important to contemplate our philosophical beliefs in order to exercise our faith. Throughout the course of the pandemic we have learned how essential it is to maintain a routine of purposeful activities in our day to day lives. And without a doubt, health should be at the top of our list of priorities.
